Do my files get uploaded?
For 13 of the 16 tools - merge, split, extract, organise, rotate, page numbers, watermark, sign, edit metadata, PDF to JPG, JPG to PDF, PDF to HTML and the HTML page builder - no. They run entirely in your browser using JavaScript, so the file never leaves your device. Only Compress, Protect and Unlock use a small server step (they genuinely need one); those files travel over HTTPS, are processed, streamed back and deleted immediately.
Is it free? Any catch?
It is completely free. No account, no email, no watermark stamped on your output, no daily limit, and no upsell.
Is there a file size limit?
The in-browser tools have no upload cap - the practical limit is how much memory your device has. The three server tools accept PDFs up to 100 MB.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes, it works in any modern mobile browser. You can also install it (Add to Home Screen) for a one-tap app that opens instantly and works offline for the in-browser tools.
Does it work offline?
After your first visit, the app and its tools are cached. The client-side tools keep working with no internet connection. The three server tools need a connection because they run on our server.
What happens to my original file?
Nothing - it is never changed. Every tool creates a brand-new file for you to download and leaves your source untouched.
How strong is the password protection?
Protect PDF uses AES-256 encryption via qpdf, the same standard used across the industry. If you lose the password there is no recovery - keep it safe.
Can Unlock crack a password I do not have?
No. You must supply the correct current password. Unlock only removes protection from PDFs you can already open - it is not a password cracker.
Why did compressing barely shrink my PDF?
PDFs that are mostly text are already compact. The big savings come from documents full of high-resolution photos or scans. We also never hand back a file larger than the one you gave us.
Is the signature legally binding?
Sign PDF places a visible signature image on the page, the digital equivalent of signing with a pen. It is widely accepted for everyday agreements but is not a cryptographic certificate signature.
Which browsers are supported?
Any up-to-date version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on desktop or mobile. The tools use standard, well-supported web features.
